From CFD to Structural Analysis: Navarc's Digital Engineering Process

CFD’den Yapısal Analize: Navarc’ın Dijital Mühendislik Süreci

In modern marine vessel design, it is not enough for different engineering disciplines to work independently of each other.

The hydrodynamic performance and structural strength of a body constitute different parts of the same physical system.

CFD and structural analysis are therefore handled interconnectedly in Navarc's engineering process.

During CFD studies, the behavior of the hull in water at different speed and trim conditions is examined.

Pressure distributions, flow fields and hydrodynamic loads are analyzed digitally.

The load maps obtained from these analyzes can then be transferred to structural models.

This way, engineers can evaluate not only how much resistance the boat creates, but also what effects these hydrodynamic loads have on the hull and structural components.

Being able to analyze stresses and deformations in critical areas before production allows the design process to proceed in a more controlled manner.

This digital engineering approach also makes it possible to compare multiple design alternatives before a physical prototype is produced.

With each new iteration, the hull, structural system and operational requirements can be re-evaluated.

For Navarc, CFD or structural analysis are not just technical reporting tools.

Active design processes that determine how the product will be shaped.

This approach forms the basis for the company to position itself not only as a boat manufacturer but also as a naval engineering and R&D house.
